Hi. It’s Rita here. The press has labeled me as a woman of few words. Truth is, they couldn’t be further from the truth when it comes to all things literacy. Welcome to my blog. Here, I plan to post my assumptions, thoughts, feelings, and – you guessed it – lessons learned about literacy. I think I will take my cue from events in the media – locally, regionally, nationally and internationally. I plan to approach literacy from whatever angle catches my eye, whether it’s about babies in the womb or senior citizens, media literacy or financial literacy, literacy as the gateway to employment or literacy as the key to a more democratic society. When it comes to literacy – there’s a lot of ground to cover and I hope you’ll join me for the ride.
